Flooding at Potter's Bridge

The depth of the broad is regularly monitored with a new sensor. You will find the depth reading (from each morning) below.

Here is an indication of what each depth reading means. Different vehicles have different heights which means this can only provide a guide, but this should help you to be prepared for potential challenges passing the road

Normal summer depth

120cm

Normal winter depth

140cm

Runoff impeded

150cm

Flooding across the road

165cm

Danger for small cars

170cm

Road may be closed

180cm

This page reports the sensor reading at approximately 6.30am each day. Weather conditions during the day mean that the real-time depth may have changed. Heavy rain can also cause temporary surface drainage flooding. The road drains sometimes get blocked so flooding can be retained on the road even when the broad is low enough.
