Notice of road closure in Southwold on 24/25 June
Dear all,
For your awareness, we are planning to carry out carriageway resurfacing along Barnaby Green and York Road, Southwold.
The works are programmed to take place between 9am and 3.30pm on Monday 24 June and Tuesday 25 June. During this time, the road will be closed to ensure the safety of highway users and our operatives.
For the duration of the closure, traffic will be diverted via A1095, Marketplace, Queen Street, Lorne Road, Godyll Road and vice versa.
As we plan roadworks in advance, we schedule extra days to allow for bad weather or other delays beyond our control. If we need to make major changes to our work dates, we will update the information signs on site and our social media channels accordingly.
A plan showing the diversion route for these works is available here. When we close the road and put a diversion in place, the route needs to be accessible to vehicles of all shapes and sizes. We make our diversions as clear as possible by placing appropriate signing along the route. The latest updates on our works can be found on the One.Network website.
There may be times that essential emergency works are required to take place on the highway network without advanced notice â you can follow Suffolk Highways on Twitter for the latest emergency roadwork updates.
Please use any contacts within your division or parish to circulate this notification.
If you have any queries on the above, please contact us on 0345 606 6171.

Reydon Scarecrow Trail returns!
Reydon Scarecrow Trail returns this summer with an Olympic and Paralympic theme. The Trail, which raises much-needed funds for Reydon Christmas Lights, encourages local Reydon people to get creative and make a scarecrow for outside their home or business. Then on the second weekend of September, everyone is encouraged to visit the village, spot all the scarecrows and pick their favourite.
The Trail runs on Saturday, 14th and Sunday, 15th September 2024 from 10am until 5pm. Programmes can be purchased from Reydon Village Hall, Bridgefoot Stores, Little Jems and Boyden Stores. There will also be homemade refreshments throughout the weekend from Reydon Village Hall.Â
So, get your thinking caps on and sign up to make a scarecrow today! Scarecrows could be inspired by an Olympic or Paralympic sport, the attendees cheering them on, or the theatrics and fun of the occasion â no artistic talents required! Forms can be collected from Bridgefoot Stores, Boyden Stores, Little Jems and Southwold Library or can be emailed to you â just contact reydonscarecrowtrail@gmail.com.
