Blyth Valley Rotary

Southwold and District Rotary Club changed its name to the Blyth Valley Rotary in August 2023.

A relaunch was necessary to bring in a wider range of friends, volunteers, and members. We want to be more inclusive and hope that there are those in the Blyth Valley that would like to support the fun, fundraising, friendship, and fantastic work Rotary does in our community, nationally and internationally. We need more help to make our vision and plans robust for the future. We can’t do it without like-minded people. Everyone has something to offer. So please get in touch, grab the feelgood factor of doing something positive and fun… service before self.

We would very much like to work with other local volunteers and groups, helping each other and helping the community. As a group, we are very approachable. We are just a group of ordinary people from all walks of life and ages.

Blyth Valley Rotary, part of Rotary International, was orginally formed in 1960. The club meets on Thursdays (6.30pm) at Sole Bay Bowls Club, Halesworth Road, Reydon IP18 6NR. We would also very much encourage Friends of Rotary to help volunteer at community events on occasions.

The club supports many local charities and community projects. We have completed improvements to the gardens at Pitches View care home, and reinstated the Christmas Day Charity Swim, Starlight Walk, Brass on the Grass and Reydon Lights Switch-on. We are actively involved with the Henham Steam Rally too.

Micro-Financing
Like many other clubs the Blyth Valley Rotary has decided to support the Lend With Care initiative. This involves helping entrepreneurs in the developing world to support themselves by providing micro-loans for their businesses. The club has initially helped three entrepreneurs.

Details of this and other projects, including photographs, can be found on the club’s website at www.blythvalleyrotary.co.uk.
